54 died due to mysterious disease in Bihar: Minister










PATNA: Bihar government on Thursday told the state assembly that altogether 54 children died of a mystery disease in around Muzaffarpur since June last.

The situation, however, was now under control, state minister Nand Kishore Yadav said on behalf of the government while replying to a call-attention notice of Ajit Kumar (JD-U).

Altogether 54 children died of the mystery disease which had not been diagnosed as yet, even as scientists from National Virology Laboratory in Pune and others collected the blood samples and brain tissues.

All the 54 children children died at Sri Krishna Medical College Hospital and Kejriwal Hospital in Muzaffarpur, he said.

Yadav said that while 32 persons lost their lives due to Kala Azar in Bihar this year, 11748 patients suffering from the disease have been diagnosed and treated.
