New Delhi/Patna: National poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar’s family has accused Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi’s cousin of illegally occupying the poet’s house.
Dinkar's ancestral home in Patna has been allegedly occupied by the cousin of Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.
The poet’s family members complained their appeals have fallen on deaf ears.

Banking on the Dinkar’s legacy, the family first knocked on the doors of Sushil Modi himself, and later appealed to chief minister Nitish Kumar - but seemingly in vain.

“We went to both the deputy chief minister and the chief minister. We were hoping that the deputy chief minister would take some action as the accused is his relative. We still appeal them to help us,” said Rozy, Dinkar’s granddaughter.

The disillusioned family is on a dharna at Delhi's Rajghat with several copies of Dinkar’s works. But the question remains: is Patna listening?

This incident would have gone unnoticed had it not involved Dinkar’s kin. But now since the family members are crying foul the government seems be adopting a defensive stand. The sanctity of the poet’s house is expected to be restored.

An embarrassed Nitish Kumar is now reportedly dealing with the issue to prevent it from becoming a blot on his government’s image.
