BHEL unit achieves 34 per cent growth

Tiruchirappalli, Feb 3 (PTI) Power plant equipment majorBHEL''s unit here was poised to surpass a turnover of Rs 12,750crore at the end of this fiscal, a senior executive of the PSUsaid here.

"This fiscal we will end with a turnover exceeding Rs 12,750crore as against Rs 10,008 crore achieved during the previousfiscal. We are maintaining a growth rate of 34 per cent yearon year. We are hopeful of achieving a turnover of Rs 16,200crore in 2011-12, A V Krishnan, Executive Director, BHEL, toldPTI here.


The achievement was made as a result of the recent capacityaugmentation at the unit here, he said.

BHEL had already accrued a fat order book to the tune of Rs38,000 crore as of December 1, 2010 and many more orders werein the pipeline.

The Q4 for the PSU was a busy one. The BHEL unit here woulddispatch 3 lakh metric tonnes of power plant components withintwo months, Krishnan said.

The BHEL was ready with technologies like higher capacity(600-880mw) thermal power plant through super criticalboilers, nuclear steam generators, integrated gasificationcombined cycle systems, higher capacity piping systems andsuper critical valves, he said.

"The company has already initiated improvement programmeslike sequential dispatches, standardisation, reduction of costof operations and wastage materials", he said.
