Creating a sensational stir in the current social scene, the across the border love-story of Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik is surely the talk of the town these days. The Indian tennis star aced over Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik’s heart as the sporting superstars broke news of their wedding that is scheduled to be held on April 15. Sources revealed that Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza have been in a relationship since six months and the love-birds have finally decided to tie the nuptial knot.

Shoaib seems to have clean-bowled Sania Mirza over as the ravishing tennis player looks forward to her marriage with him.

"My wedding is going to be the biggest day of my life," Sania said in a statement.
The sporting marriage comes two months after Mirza broke off her engagement to a childhood friend.

"I have been in the constant glare for too long and would appreciate the privacy at this very personal moment in my life," said the 23-year-old starlet.

Shoaib met Sania for the first time in Hobart, Australia and after a few days of their meeting, Sania called off his engagement with Sohrab Mirza with whom she get engaged to in July 2009 saying, "we were friends for years but found ourselves incompatible as fiances.”

The Engagement

Surprising news of the engagement of Shoaib Malik and Sania Miaza plunged both countries into a great confusion. At last the cat is out of the bag. Their wedding is expected to take place on April 15 in Hyderabad Deccan. Sania Mirza will come to Pakistan for her valima reception that is expected to be held on April 16 or 17. Seeds of romance, between these two “aces” of their respective fields, began germinating some six months back. Ex-cricketer Shoaib Malik and tennis queen Sania Mirza’s engagement news came at large just when the preparations of Pak-Bharat friendship and peace recitation (Mushairah) are in its final phase in Karachi. According to Shoaib’s family members, he got engaged a month ago to Sania. Sania’s father has also endorsed the news of their engagement. Both the families met each other in Dubai during the Twenty20 matches between England and Pakistan. After that Shoaib’s mother, sister and brother-in-law visited Hyderabad where the actual ceremony took place.

‘I’ll Support Sania In Her Career’

Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza plan to wed in a unique union bridging the two nations’ bitter sporting and political divide.

“I fully understand what it takes to be an international sportsperson and I will support Sania in her career as long as she wishes to play.”

He said he would be "the proudest husband" if Mirza won a medal at the 2012 Olympics, while the tennis player said she was targeting a return to fitness for the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games late this year.

Shoaib’s Former Affairs With Indian Beauties

Once again Shoaib Malik is very much in news for his romance with an Indian beauty. And this time, the beauty is none other than Sania Mirza. Before Sania, Shoaib remained in news for his alleged affairs with Ayesha Siddiqui of Hyderabad Deccan and Bollywood actress Siali Bhagat.

In a bizarre twist five years ago, he was accused by the family of Ayesha Siddiqui of marrying her over the telephone. The cricketer denied it, but did admit to being engaged. Ayesha's father threatened to sue Malik for leaving the girl without awarding her a divorce.

According to sources, the two had reportedly developed friendship on the internet. And the interesting fact is that Sania Mirza is the friend of the same Ayesha Siddiqui.

The dashing cricketer was also linked with Indian actress Siali Bhagat, and there were reports of the two meeting confidentially in 2008.

Critics are skeptical about their alliance as the two belong to totally different countries and cultural backgrounds; Shoaib being a Punjabi Pakistani while Sania an Urdu-speaking Indian. Infact, the only similarity between the two is their names that share the same initial letter ‘S’. Some fans raised their eyebrows over the unison while others were a bit too excited to see love brewing between the popular sport personalities to care about such details. Peace ambassadors must be elated as the marriage looks more like an effort to strengthen ties between India and Pakistan.

Confirming the imminent nuptials, Malik said, "The news of me marrying Sania is true. Insha Allah we will get married on April 15.”

However, speculation is rife that the couple is all set to live their lives in Dubai after the wedding. The marriage will take place in India whereas the valima reception will be organised in Lahore. The Pakistan High Commission in India has issued visa to Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and her family.

Talking to an Indian television, Sania’s mother Nasim Mirza said that her family has been given visa by the Pakistan High Commission and they would go soon to Pakistan.
Sources further unveiled that Shoaib’s mother fixed the wedding date after accepting the young and pretty sports champion Sania as her future daughter-in-law. Thousands of ardent sports fans are enthusiastically forecasting their own predictions for the couple’s married life; but only time will tell what actually lies in the store for the two.
