Agenda-Funders Forum-Accountability in Non Profits-a donors perspective

Yesterday on 3rd February,2010...3.30pm to 5.30 pm,At M.L. Bhartia Auditorium Alliance Franchaise,72 Lodhi Estate, New Delhi...I went there 'to listen and if neccessary' ask a question and interact with them...though my 'khansi' has stopped me to do so and others sitting there have asked most of the questions...but the best part is all the speakers has spoken very well....MR. MATHEW CHERIAN,MANAGING TRUSTEE,RESOURCE ALLIANCE,INDIA...!! MR.MOHAMMAD MUSA, COUNTRY DIRECTOR,CARE INDIA, MR.AJAY MEHTA,EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR,NATIONAL FOUNDATION OF INDIA, MS NISHA AGGRAWAL,CEO,OXFAM INDIA...MR.ASHVIN DAYAL,MANAGING DIRECTOR,ROCKFELLER FOUNDATION, AND MR MOHD. HALEEM KHAN,DIRECTOR GENERAL...CAPART...AND THEN OPEN HOUSE...AN INTERACTIVE SESSION... a sweet girl Rati was from the organizer side to introduce everyone...in a jam packed hall(around 70-80 people), all the participants were from different NGO SECTOR(It has become a sector now). Its good to hear that finance minister Shri Pranav Mukherjeeji had invited 'a delegation' from this sector to discuss their participation and allocation of money to this sector in coming Budget suggesting you people are not united....he listened to them for 2 and a half hour!! I have wriiten my views and suggestion to give NGO sector whether they are CSR or not, more free hand to do social change...and monitor them(which they are doing..but then corruption creates the loopholes or vice versa)...in my blog chinuaditi.blogspot.com last year election time...now it shows, atleast I think in right direction....!!!

Nice to see that...as some how many of us have this wrong notion that NGO's don't have credibility or accountability...many of them work not just to serve but to get funds/grants...and be corrupt...which is is not 100% true...which is exaggeretated, there are certain examples of NGO's who are doing well but are not corrupt....as told by speakers...!! Yes, even I have read about many unsung NGO's who are working with the local resources...local contributions...and for local people....but then even they need monetry help and funds/grants/collaboration/parteners from donors to do something in bigger scale than what they're already doing, and for more and more people to help...and definitly to devolop their own infrastucture, to employee few to make a team, as now everyone don't and cannot work free, devote time ...selflessly to serve...without salary...part time or full time...even I think it is not practically possible...as one need to/ take care of his/her livelihood...they are not participating in any quit india movement or Aazadi ki ladai....!!

I believe in BE A CHANGE, IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE AS YOU CAN CHANGE....!!! That's why topic for ADITIFOUNDATION's first seminar was 'QUA SWAYAMSEVI SANSTHAYEIN AAM LOGON KI BHAGIDAARI KE SAATH DUNIYA KI TASVIR BADAL SAKTI HAI???

Sometime things happen in your life in a way that you can't realize that what your destiny stored for you...but can feel that it wants more then you have ever thought for you...this realization makes you think...what,why and how you can do whatever your heart and conscience is telling you to do....!!!One need planning for everything, which is materialistic but then everything cannot be planned....it happens(thats destiny). I am not interested in creating monsters or Bhasmasurs...I never was...I want to work for causes, taking like minded people together...everyone is welcomed...but still my family(Sudhirji,Chinu) and of course Ma,Babuji are my priorities...so I want them to be part of it....maybe there is some(little bit of) resistence, opposition and disagreement still exists on this matter and ideas...though physically and monetrally...Sudhirji always help......and everyone has their priorities...but they are with me I know.I don't need to convince them anymore....!!! Just take a step in right directions and things will follow. No one is enemy for me...can be rivals or competitors if 'THEY' want to.Its their choice.

To be contd....these lines written below I have written on 14 march 2009...in chinuaditi.blogspot.com...its a cut and paste here...!!

(Its SAD but fact that to win election-- parties need to fulfill CASTE, COMMUNAL,and (hopefully)WOMEN's interests best as these are the factors which also counts. Our society has structured like this that we have assimilation of all this and for years now(60),Politicians should/need to, wipe the division of lower-upper caste, different religions as our Constitution do not differentiate between them, and gave solution for their upliftment to be equals...and please do not consider Hindus as communal just becoz they are in majority...as even they are 'Garib and Pidit'...facing all kind of problems...so,parameter should be to wipe out 'class divide' and one should try to dissolve other social ugliness..attach to caste, class ,religion, gender and do their makeovers... these problems should be 'diverted' to social sector to take initiative with the help of masses and other machineries...Govt. or Private, National...International...)

Yesterday evening(8th Feb 10) I went for a conference at IIC,CONFERENCE ROOM 1st FLOOR,LODHI STATE ......."Fourth CSR Roundtable - Panel Discussion on CSR Guidelines scheduled for 8th February at India International Centre (IIC). The voluntary guidelines on CSR have been recently brought out by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Distinguished panelists include: Mr S.Sen from CII, Dr Aqueel Khan from Association for Stimulating Know How (ASK), Mr Viraf Mehta from Partners in Change (PIC), Mr Asheesh Shah from Delhi Business School (DBS), Ms Amita Joseph from BCF. The panel was chaired by Prof. Shri Ram Khanna from Voluntary Organisation in the Interest of Consumer Education (VOICE).

All of them discussed about guidelines need to be made...they have drafted it but after taking people's remarks and comments...they will redraft it...which may become a law in coming years, which will be mandatory...for corporate sectors...though it was also discussed that .....rules are make to break still we are thinking positive as it is important to have rules ....I have expressed my apprehensions as well,in a few lines...pros and cons......to be contd.
